For as long as there have been people, there have been questions about suffering. Why does it happen? Why does God allow it to happen? If we are honest, none of us actually wants or likes to suffer. In fact, the modern world goes to great lengths to avoid suffering–especially among the more affluent countries like Canada.
But is it possible that God sometimes uses our suffering to scatter us into a world that is watching to see how we act? And is it possible that whether we are suffering or not, our lives are a constant display that maybe, just maybe, is intended to point people to Jesus?
As we approach Easter, and as we reflect on how Jesus suffered and died and rose again for our sakes, what might happen if we truly revered our suffering Jesus as the Lord of all we do and all we say?
