BAPTISM

YVONNE PARRY

During the most challenging times in my life, I struggled with anger, resentment, and insecurities. Through my faith journey, God has shown me that I can set myself free from those burdens through the incredible power of forgiveness. The more I dive into my faith, the more I understand what Jesus did for us. By dying for our sins, he brought us closer to God and when God raised Jesus from the dead, he showed us what true love and grace look like. By this example, I extend love and grace to those around me and the compassion I feel is deeper than I knew I was capable of.

I know that God has given me another chance to live my life closer to him, to follow the example of Jesus and to be more like Him each day. I am in awe of how I can see His presence in every part of my life now. My relationships, my work, the little moments that once seemed insignificant—are now filled with His grace. The way I view and appreciate those around me has changed. I’ve learned to see them through the eyes of the Lord and lead with love, not just in my words, but in my actions.

Throughout my life, I’ve always known God’s presence—whether in the quiet moments or in the storms. I was baptized as a baby in the Catholic Church, and received the sacrament of
Confirmation but now, at this stage of my life, declaring my faithfulness to Jesus through a believer’s baptism feels like the natural next step in my journey. It feels like the right moment to fully embrace the love he’s shown me and to commit myself to Him.

When I pray, I see God answer me. It’s not always in the ways I expect, but I know he’s listening, guiding, and loving me through every situation. I’ve come to understand that to be a good leader, I must first be a good follower of Christ. My husband and I are raising our children with the same heart—to lead them closer to God, to be the example they need to see of what it means to love and serve the Lord.

One of my favourite worship songs says, “Rain came and wind blew, but my house was built on You.” Those lyrics resonate with me so deeply, because I know that no matter what life throws my way, I am standing firm in God’s love. I feel embraced by this community of believers, and I am not walking this journey alone.

When I accepted Jesus into my heart, I found peace in the midst of circumstances that made no sense. It wasn’t peace that came from the world—it was peace that only He can provide. As I get baptized, I look forward to sharing my story with others and serving the Lord in whatever way He calls me to do so. This is just the beginning of the beautiful journey I’m on with Him and I am so in love.

Thank you.
