My name is Travis Boyer DaSilva, and this is my testimony.

Before I became a follower of Christ, I carried a lot of anger, hurt, and brokenness in my life. I grew up in a difficult environment without a father, constantly moving from place to place, never really having stability. We survived on welfare and child support.

We were constantly on the move as we couldn’t afford rent consistently. The dysfunctional environment later played a big role in the person I became. As things spiralled out of control my mother started having trouble with substance abuse and eventually lost custody of all her children. I was forced to grow up at a young age and had to leave home at 15.
That’s when I slowly became hardened and lost.

As I got older, life became even heavier. I found out that my mother was very sick and in January of 2022, I held her in my arms as she took her last breath. Losing my mom was one of the darkest moments of my life. I felt completely empty, hopeless, and honestly didn’t know how to keep going anymore. It felt like I lost a part of myself forever.

I was contemplating taking my own life, I felt like I had nothing left to live for. I was ready to give up on myself.

But it was at that moment that the lord met me and showered me in his presence. I felt a love so overwhelming, it sheltered me and comforted me. It gave me clarity and a peace of mind. It was something so undeniable it has shaped my life forever. At that moment I knew that God was real and all the stories in the Bible were not just belief stories. I had a new desire to learn more about God of the universe , and to grow in my faith as a new found Christian.

Since then, my life slowly began to change. I became more intimate, more resilient, more compassionate, more loving and patient.

Piece by piece, the Lord continues to build me, shape me, transform me and renew my mind to be more like Christ.

I now sit here in front of you today and declare that Jesus is the truth, the way and the life. If it wasn’t for Jesus I wouldn’t have made it out alive. Jesus gave me a second chance to live my life. He gives me the love, peace, and comfort I was missing my whole life.

I thank God every day for saving me from the darkness I was living in.

I’m forever grateful to you my lord, I will never stop chasing you, I will always fight for you, even in my hardest of times.

I want to give a big thanks to Cornerstone for allowing me to share my story and for pastor Jeremy for helping me along this journey of baptism.

I pray that whoever hears this the Lord may bless you , guide you and protect you on your journey of life. May this testimony be a blessing and encourage those who are struggling in silence, to know the lord is always near to those who are in most need. Open your hearts to his love and mercy and I promise it will be the best decision of your life!

God bless us all, may your day be filled with lots of love, patience and kindness!
