The story comes to a climax with Jesus, but we can’t get there with out all of the people that God used to write this story. A story of unlikely people and unlikely places. This is a story of God seeing Zechariah and Elizabeth in their weariness and longing and sending them a child of joy to prepare the way for Jesus. This is a story of God choosing a young, poor girl with nothing to offer to carry his own Son. This is the story of Joseph’s fear, anger, and questions being met with an invitation from God to say yes. And this is the story of a baby born into this world, learning, growing, and living into his humanity as God laid the foundation for his rescue plan. This is the story God invites us to be a part of, a bunch of unlikely people that God has invited into his family as we join the long list of ordinary people being written into God’s extraordinary story.
