Do you think Jesus wants us to be his fair-weather fans, or his true blue fans?
It’s a trick question. Because the answer is neither. Jesus isn’t looking for fans. He’s looking for followers— for disciples.
Fans of Jesus admire him from a distance, but they don’t get very close. Fans of Jesus know about him, but they don’t know him. Fans of Jesus sit safely in the stands, so to speak, as spectators. They aren’t really interested in joining Jesus in getting into the game because that’s where Jesus calls all the plays for his true followers.
Are you a fan, or a follower? Discover what it means to follow Jesus. Join us as we kick off a 6-part series on discipleship.
