Prayer-&-Re-Envisioning-2024

MAKING SPACE FOR JESUS

Let us come together as a community of faith and prayerfully explore the possibilities that lie ahead. It’s time for a fresh iteration of God’s longer-term vision for Cornerstone, whether that means renewing our pursuit of the original expression of what we once called “Vision 2020” (a 3-part vision we discerned for Cornerstone in 2019 which was paused due to the pandemic), a modified version of it, or perhaps even a brand new vision altogether! We want to wait upon the Lord, and not walk ahead of Him in this. We’re excited to see how we can partner with the Lord in fulfilling the vision He has in store for us.

THE "WHYS" OF VISION 2020

To MAKE SPACE to develop new leaders.
When you read the book of Acts, you’ll see that the natural outflow of making disciples is the development and multiplication of servant leaders who then spread out and plant new churches. We envisioned making space for new leaders to partner with Jesus in expanding for God’s kingdom.

To MAKE SPACE to reach people in a new context.
God has given Cornerstone unique and deeply biblical DNA. We believe this DNA is meant to bless not only our immediate community, but other contexts as well. We envisioned making space to reach more people for Jesus through the innovative expression of our DNA in a new context.

PRAYER GUIDE

We invite you to use this prayer guide to join us in seeking God for his direction leading up to our Prayer & Re-Envisioning event on Saturday, May 25. Following the weekly schedule, pray the short prayers below, using them as a springboard for more extended times of prayer as the Lord leads. Make note of any stirrings or impressions the Holy Spirit may lay on your heart. You’ll have an opportunity to share your impressions during the Prayer & Re-Envisioning event.

PRAYER FOCUS

Week of May 5: PLANTING A NEW CAMPUS

Lord Jesus, we once sensed that you wanted us to plant a Cornerstone campus so that in living out our distinctives1 as a local church, we could be a channel of your blessing not only to the neighbours in our current community but in another community as well. We seek you for your direction on this again. Would you have us renew this pursuit for the sake of your kingdom? Lord Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd, and you said that your sheep hear your voice (see John 10). Help us to hear your voice in this or any revised or new direction you may have for Cornerstone’s longer-term future. May your will and your will alone be done. Amen.

Week of May 12: LAUNCHING A THIRD WORSHIP SERVICE

Lord Jesus, we once sensed that you wanted us to launch a third worship service as a creative platform for outreach and the development of new kingdom leaders. We seek you for your direction on this again. Would you have us renew this pursuit for the sake of your kingdom? We say with the young prophet Samuel, “Speak Lord, for your servants are listening” (see 1 Samuel 3). Help us to hear your voice in this, or any revised or new direction you may have for Cornerstone’s longer-term future. May your will and your will alone be done. Amen.

Week of May 19: DEVELOPING A LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

Lord Jesus, we once sensed that you wanted us to develop a leadership institute. A 12-month curriculum had even been outlined to help develop kingdom leaders for all domains of society. We seek you for your direction on this again. Would you have us renew this pursuit for the sake of your kingdom? Whatever the direction you want us to take, help us to hear you saying, “This is the way; walk in it” (see Isaiah 30:21), including any revised or new direction you may have for Cornerstone’s longer-term future. May your will and your will alone be done. Amen.
