Hi, my name is PJ Wong, and I would like to share a little bit of my spiritual journey.

I was born and raised in a Christian home and always knew who Jesus was and why he died on the cross for our sins. I eventually came to accept Christ at a young age. But the last couple of years have really helped me grow spiritually. One moment that got me thinking about my faith was when some of my classmates from school started questioning the existence of God. At the time I felt a series of mixed emotions. I felt frustrated but curious at the exact same time. It made me want to defend my faith but I didn’t know how to explain it well enough. This really got me digging deeper into my beliefs. Over time as I read the bible, other books and spoke with my parents about this, I learned about the detailed way our bodies are made and how this could point to a higher being and creator. I felt God was showing and guiding me to different answers and this helped to deepen my faith. Because I’m still learning and growing, I find that opening up with your family really can help as well.

Being baptized symbolizes my relationship with Jesus. In Acts 2:38 Peter says: “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

By being baptized, it means you are obeying Jesus and that the Holy Spirit is with you. I want to take this step of obedience so that’s why I want to get baptized. I would like to thank my family for supporting me through everything I do. My mom and dad have helped me with everything that I could possibly name, so thanks for all that you’ve done for me. My brothers Koen and Matthan have taught me to persevere in love (especially when they’re being annoying to me). And thanks to my cousins Aidan and Garrett for influencing me in a lot of things and for all the fun times (that stink bomb prank we did on Aidan, Koen and Matthan was awesome Garrett).

Finally I want to thank all my friends and leaders at the youth group. A verse that always helps me remember that Jesus is in control and will always be with me is; Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
