BAPTISM

NATHAN CHAN

Hi my name is Nathan Chan and I will be sharing my testimony today.

I grew up in a Christian home and went to church every Sunday. I have been thinking about being baptized for about 3 years now but I always made up
excuses like “I am not old enough” or “I will do it next year”.

In the summer of 2017 I went to an Adventure Bible Camp at The Bridge. There I learned what Jesus did to save me from my sins.

In the summers that followed I went to other christian summer camps but I didn’t apply what I learned during the school year. I understand that jesus was a real person that died for my sins.

In 2021 I started going to youth group here at church. I learned a lot and my faith grew.

The most impactful event was going to Jr. High summer camp at Hope church. I remember one of the most important lessons I learned there and it was to love your enemies and don’t hate people because God sees that as a sin. At this camp I found this verse: Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” I found this verse impactful.

This year I was talking to my small group leader Grace and she asked me if I had any plan of getting baptized? I told her I had plans of getting baptized this easter. Later, my friend Ethan asked me if I was signing up for baptism and if so he would sign up too. So here I am.

After trying to live my life my way It didn’t work out but living for Jesus and serving in his kingdom gave me joy and peace. And I want to continue walking with Jesus so I am here to get baptized.

Thank you to my small group leaders Grace and Scott for helping me along my spiritual journey. Thank You to my parents, family and friends for always supporting me. Thank you to all of the leaders from all the christian summer camps over the years. Thank you to the pastors here at church for all the impactful messages.

I wanted to leave you with this verse:

Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
