Second cold alert this week while the city’s shelter system remains strained. (Evan Mitsui/CBC)
It’s cold out there. Really cold. The Extreme Cold Weather Alert came across the radio with the reminder for people to bundle up and stay inside.
I pray for our friends who are living outside on the streets of Toronto and have nowhere to go. My phone lights up with a notification from a Cornerstone member and a quick note that they are thinking of and praying for our friends who live outside. I know those prayers are powerful and we have seen God show up in beautiful ways on the coldest of nights.
Will you join us in praying for those living outside today?
- For protection from the cold and weather
- For warm spaces to go (shelters, coffee shops, warming centres, buses and streetcars)
- For the volunteers, workers, and staff who are out caring for those on the streets
- Sleepings bags and blankets
- Tents (size: 2-4 people)
- Tarps
- Warm gloves, socks, and hats
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
