Associate Worship Director

GENERAL OVERVIEW
Cornerstone Christian Community Church is a non-profit, Christian organization. The Church operates a community centre-style facility that is open 7 days per week and serves the community whether through church on Sundays or other events and programs throughout the week. POSITION OVERVIEW
You have a personal relationship with Jesus, a heart for worship and love for the church. You get excited at the idea of developing leaders and ensuring everything is in place for their success. You bring a high level of musicality, have great communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and are organized and creative. Your ability to lead worship and work with the band, coupled with your ability to plan and execute projects are some of your main strengths.

The worship ministry shapes and carries out all Sunday worship services with the goal of pointing people to Jesus through the various expressions of the worship experience, including music, liturgy, communion, giving, prayer ministry and baptism. We are also responsible for all technical and A/V aspects of the service and plan special services and worship spaces outside of Sunday service. If Jesus is remembered most at the end of our worship gathering, we will have accomplished the goal.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Working under the direction of the Worship Director, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Worship Director (WD) in service planning
  • As a key member of our worship-leading rotation, you will lead worship on Sunday mornings with the band as a vocalist or instrumentalist when scheduled
  • Be a regular presence at our Tuesday night rehearsals, knowing the set and the various parts well and helping to lead and guide the band through the set.
  • Attend our Sunday morning services for both worship service times
  • Assist WD with scheduling, communications, recruiting, training and development and overall support of our musicians and volunteer teams.
  • Assist WD in planning sets, including organizing and implementing special worship elements to our services
  • Assist in developing/planning and improving the worship experience for our church
  • Assist in writing road maps for the worship band to use
  • Maintain Planning Center Online song bank and rehearsal resources (chord charts, teaching videos, recordings)
  • Assist WD in creating appropriate and tasteful aesthetics for staging and Sunday morning worship environment
  • Work closely with A/V Team Leads in becoming proficient and familiar with all A/V equipment protocols and procedures (audio, visuals, lighting etc), so we can best support them
  • Assist with planning and logistics for special worship ministry gatherings – retreats, training events, socials
  • Assist with communications and logistics for other teams and ministry areas under the Worship Ministry umbrella

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ
  • A deep passion and experience in leading engaging worship and praise
  • Minimum 2 years experience serving in Music or Worship Ministry
  • Experienced musician with a good understanding of music theory
  • Proficient and familiar with CCM music and style
  • Strong competencies in leadership, communication (oral and written), collaboration, and shepherding
  • Proven experience and an understanding of how to work with a volunteer-based ministry of various ages, skill levels and experience
  • Must be organized with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate needs
  • Ability to work independently
  • Approachable personality, trustworthy, and able to perform under the highest ethical standards
  • Valid driver’s license w/access to a car required

The following would be considered a strong asset:

  • Some formal training in music (and specifically church music) is preferred
  • Experience with Ableton Live
  • Experience with Planning Center
  • Experience with multitrack
  • If instrumentalist, experience as onstage Music Director
