GENERAL OVERVIEW
Cornerstone Christian Community Church is a non-profit, Christian organization. The Church operates a community centre-style facility that is open 7 days per week and serves the community whether through church on Sundays or other events and programs throughout the week. POSITION OVERVIEW
You are a people-person with high emotional intelligence that loves children. You bring creativity and strategic thinking to our programs; pointing children to Jesus every step of the way. You will need strong organizational skills as you manage both short and long term projects and schedules. This is also an opportunity to grow your leadership and mentoring skills in a supportive environment as you lead youth and young adults on our summer camp staff team.

Under the supervision of the Children’s Ministry Director, the Associate Children’s Ministry Director will:

  • Collaborate in planning and executing StarKids programs for children ages 15 months to Grade 5
  • Oversee summer camp programs and temporary camp staff for ages SK to Grade 12.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Regular Sunday, Midweek Programming, and volunteer team leadership

  • Provide direction and encouragement to Sunday team with a focus of leadership development for our Children’s Ministry team members
  • Aid in schedule management
  • Help facilitate new volunteer onboarding and ongoing team member training
  • Communicate with parents as needed
  • Creatively explore ways to develop programming that is in line with Cornerstone’s annual ministry theme/objectives as it relates to children and families
  • Step into/assist (including teaching) in different classroom roles as needed

Summer Camp programs and staffing
A. Kids’ Camps (ages 4-11 years)

  • Oversee development of camp theme, objectives and content
  • Manage budget and registration fees
  • Communicate and connect with parents and campers
  • Day-to-day leadership and supervision of Kids’ Camp personnel and operations

B. Overall camp coordination

  • Oversee coordination and use of building and resources for all summer camps
  • Apply for and manage summer staffing grants where applicable
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring and training of summer staff
  • Seek out opportunities to connect with our neighbours with the intention of providing camp programs based on the needs of our community

Other
Occasional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Children’s Ministry Director or the Executive Team

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Post Secondary education related to children or families preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working with children or families
  • Familiar with Google Suite (docs, sheets, slides)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A deep personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian ministry.
  • Friendly, welcoming and caring disposition towards both children and adults
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal. Ability to comprehend instructions and communicate a plan for execution in a timely fashion
  • Familiarity with relevant safety and security protocols for working with children
  • Experience working with children in a ministry or educational setting, preferably within a church context
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Sensitivity to confidential information is essential
  • Has or willing to acquire CPR-C first aid certification

OTHER DETAILS

  • Full-time, salaried position
  • Target Start Date – ASAP
  • Must complete Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • This role requires working on Sundays
  • Reports to Children’s Ministry Director
