WATCH BAPTISM

ANDREA CHAN

Andrea Chan

Hi, my name is Andrea. I have known Jesus Christ and His love all my life. There isn’t a specific moment that led me to him, but as I look back in time, I see God working in both my life and the people around me.

I grew up in a Christian family and have witnessed God’s love and miracles since I was little. I have always understood that even if I’m not enough, God is always present and will guide me on the right path. However, I still have doubts sometimes, if I have done enough to get close to God and be in His favour when looking at the examples around me.

The idea of baptism first entered my mind during high school, before I moved to Toronto. Each time I contemplated it, I hesitated, and my list of excuses continued to grow as I reasoned myself closer to taking this important step. Over the years, I was reminded time and again of all that God has done for me. Baptism is not only the first step in obeying Jesus’ command, but also a public declaration of faith, demonstrating God’s work through me. There is no perfect timing for anything except God’s timing. This Easter, God provided me with the reasons I needed to overcome my excuses and reminded me that, ultimately, it comes down to one thing: it is His command and His gift to me. One verse that has always stood out to me when I thought about baptism is from Acts 22:15-16 (NIV): “You will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard. And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.”

Finally, I want to thank my parents and friends. They know that my step towards baptism has been long overdue, and their ongoing support and encouragement over the years have meant so much to me.

Thank you!
