A Long Lost Friend
TUESDAY
During the pandemic I had the opportunity to use my crafting business to bless people at Northwind.
Through my network I raised money to “sponsor” a craft box. I arranged to have these craft boxes sent up to Thunder Bay where a northwind staff would take sign ups and distribute them to those who were interested. I held several zoom craft/cardmaking sessions during the two winters during the pandemic and had the privilege to get to know some of the clients/friends of northwind.
Today when I was standing in the office foyer, someone walked in and saw me and asked if I was Genevieve. I realized she was Dorothy from the craft sessions and it was like seeing a long lost friend although I had never met her in person before. She was excited to hear that we were here volunteering and wanted to meet the rest of the team.
Play Days - Day 3
We are on day three of play days! Tomorrow will be the final play day at the largest complex. We’ve heard it is more “rough” so Joshua was thinking to replace the balloon dart game with plinko. Less opportunity for injury! We are definitely getting smoother and more comfortable with setting up, take down and interacting with the kids and families.
Today was our second morning helping out at the next steps program. It was a joy to freely serve coffee and bannock to anyone who walked in the door. They are allowed to have as much as they want. We thought the spirit of generosity here at northwind was a great testimony of Gods generosity.
Joshua and karen were the master bannock makers learning to make two types of bannock (fried and baked) while Denise and Genevieve handed out the drinks and bannock
