Reducing the Livestock Industry’s Impact on the Oceans
The meat industry is surprisingly a big contributor to the health of the oceans. We need to make sure that our choices are ethical and will move the ocean to a healthier future. Here are TWO ways that would help to reduce the meat industry’s impact on the ocean:
1. Reducing your Meat Consumption
It is not only good for the ocean but for the planet as well. Reducing the methane released and the chemical/biological waste entering the environment will make a difference; even if that means eating meat 6 times a week rather than 7. There are many plant-based sources of protein including chia seeds, tofu, beans, sprouted whole grain bread, and nuts.
2. Buy Certified Organic Meats
But, when do you treat yourself to a slab of steak or crispy chicken, look for certified organic meats with no funny chemicals or hormones in them identified by official logos. Logos such as the ones below are better than no logo at all.
