Tracking Illegally Caught Fish, How Does it Work?

There are many checkpoints and loop holes when it comes to processing fish from bait to your plate.

Often times, we cannot regulate what goes on at sea or track each fish to ensure it was caught in accordance with legal regulations. That is why 1 in 5 fish is estimated to be caught illegally!

For a fish to be considered caught illegally, it depends on which country’s waters it was caught in and what those country’s fishing legislations are.
