Dorothy Pang (Community Engagement Director)
In 2012, after a successful career as a litigation lawyer, and in response to a specific call on her life, Dorothy joined the staff team at Cornerstone. Dorothy’s passion is for the church to live out its kingdom identity in the community, and for the community – to share Jesus in word and in deed in everyday encounters at work, at play, and in our neighbourhoods. Once we move into our new facility, she will focus on providing a quality first impression as we serve our community throughout the week via recreation programs, coffee or meals in our café or through our Sunday worship event. Along with her team, Dorothy will help welcome our guests and direct them to resources that will serve their needs as appropriate, as well as actively connect with community groups to help identify needs in the community and determine the best way for Cornerstone folks to channel our time and resources to serve the community’s needs. Currently, Dorothy’s responsibilities focus primarily on laying the groundwork for a smooth transition into our future facility. Her responsibilities include assisting in the development of the new legal, governance and ministry structures, overseeing the Capital Campaign and participating in the Building Advisory Committee. Dorothy is married with two children. Living in one of Canada’s most diverse communities, she enjoys trying different ethnic foods in the Markham area, reading and outdoor activities with the kids. Dorothy and her husband have a deep passion for helping the poor in developing countries and are governors at Opportunity International Canada – a Christian microfinance organization.
